Katrina

Katrina has been a devastating catastrophe. Clearly the situation in New Orleans is getting much worse. I feel an overwhelming desire to help. As a lowly student nurse there is not much I can contribute, unfortunately. Fast forward, darn it!

Here is some information from the ANA site about the need for volunteer nurses for those of you who can help:

volunteer with your local red cross. there is a lot you can do in your hometown to help out. You might even get to help out at shelters for these people as they are sent into other states. Our state has 2000 arriving beginning Thursday. You don't need to be a nurse yet to help out. I made a pretty big post about it on Mediblogopathy, you might want to read it if you get a chance.

I would love to volunteer locally, I am going to check into it. And I did check out the post over at Mediblogopathy. Unfortunately, with school starting in earnest this week, I don't know when I will get a chance to volunteer. Well at least I can start by donating blood!
