Subway Sounds, Volume 1, Issue 2

Watch the video

I came across this Huqin musician in the NYC subway the other day. I am not sure which of the Huqin instruments it is - maybe Erhu? I am fascinated by subway musicians. There are so many excellent musicians working the NYC subways. The diversity is amazing. Previously, I did a post showing a drummer using buckets.

Cool! I don't know what that instrument is, either, but I've always loved it. There are certain instruments that just sound fabulous in subway stations...I guess it's the acoustics.

Steel drums are another instrument that sounds fab while waiting for a train.

There used to be a pair of musicians who played together but on seperate platforms at the 42nd st N station. it was awesome.

Cool. I live in the country now, upstate NY. I don't get to see stuff like this anymore.
Thanks for sharing a subway story with us.
